#4 Ann Farmers Wife Block

Ann is block #4 of the Farmer’s Wife 1930s Sew Along

Firstly I apologise for the lack of photos in this tutorial, I did do them but instead of importing the photos from the SD card I hit delete, I am utilising the excuse of baby brain to cover me for this but I do apologise!

I constructed Ann using the Marti Mitchell templates and a rotary cutter. I highly recommend using these templates as it made creating this block a lot easier.

For the benefit of constructing this block I have divided the block into 4 smaller blocks.

I have chosen to create my Farmer’s Wife quilt using Liberty Tana Lawn

How to Construct Ann
-Cut out templates for Block #22 Cat as per the template CD or corresponding Marti Mitchell templates

-Following the instructions in the book cut the appropriate number of templates and colours.

-Iron each piece and layout in the block design diving the block into 4 parts – top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right.

Top Left

– Take piece A, H and B – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Press Seam and entire piece

– Take piece F and C – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Press Seam and entire piece

– Take piece G and D – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Press Seam and entire piece

– Take piece I and E – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Take piece IE and AHB and match bottom IE seam with the top of AHB – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Press block

– Take left side FC and match along the left side of block IEAHB – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

– Press block

– Take right side GD and match along the right side of block IEAHB – match seams and sew using a 1/4 inch seam

Learning to Drive

Do you remember those days of learning how to drive: The tricky bits that everyone endures and quickly forgets especially when teaching the next person.

That first session is one of the most stressful experiences, driving does not seem like a hard think to do but getting out on to the open road can be overwhelming and feel extremely busy especially in peak traffic times and on weekends.
